Salvador Dali was born on May 11th, 1904 in the small Spanish town of Figueras in the province of Catalunya. After receiving private art lessons in Figueras for some time, Dali enrolled at the Escuela de Pintura, Escultura Grabado de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid in 1921.
